Zecharyah 14:16-18

Zec 14:16  Finally, everyone remaining from all the nations that came to attack Yerushalayim will go up every year to worship the king, Adonai-Tzva'ot, and to keep the festival of Sukkot.

Deu 28:11  "Adonai will give you great abundance of good things - of the fruit of your body, the fruit of your livestock and the fruit of your land in the land Adonai swore to your ancestors to give you.

Deu 28:12  Adonai will open for you his good treasure, the sky, to give your land its rain at the right seasons and to bless everything you undertake. You will lend to many nations and not borrow;

Deu 28:24  Adonai will turn the rain your land needs into powder and dust that will fall on you from the sky until you are destroyed.

 

Lev 23:36  For seven days you are to bring an offering made by fire to Adonai; on the eighth day you are to have a holy convocation and bring an offering made by fire to Adonai ; it is a day of public assembly; do not do any kind of ordinary work.

 

What exactly is a holy convocation?

 

H6944  קדשׁ  qôdesh  BDB Definition: apartness, holiness, sacredness, separateness

 

H4744  מקרא  miqrâ‘  BDB Definition: convocation, convoking, reading, a calling together, sacred assembly, convoking, reading Part of Speech: noun masculine

 

In the Bible the number 8, which comes after the number (7) which signifies completeness,

symbolizes a new beginning, or a new order of things, a new creation, a new birth, and the resurrection to eternal life.

The Meaning of Numbers: The Number 8

In Hebrew the number eight is (Sh'moneh), from the root (Shah'meyn),

"to make fat," "cover with fat," "to super-abound."

 

As a participle it means "one who abounds in strength," etc. As a noun it is "superabundant fertility," "oil," etc.

 

1Pe 3:20  to those who were disobedient long ago, in the days of Noach, when God waited patiently during the building of the ark, in which a few people — to be specific, eight — were delivered by means of water.

When the whole earth was covered with the flood, it was Noah "the eighth person" (2Peter 2:5) who stepped out on to a new earth to commence a new order of things. "Eight souls" (1Peter 3:20) passed through it with him to the new or regenerated world.

Gen 17:12  Generation after generation, every male among you who is eight days old is to be circumcised, including slaves born within your household and those bought from a foreigner not descended from you.

 

Hence, too, circumcision was to be performed on the eighth day (Genesis 17:12), because it was the foreshadowing of the true circumcision of the heart

 

Why is the number eight symbolic of Yeshua?

Eight is the number of Yeshua, whose name in Greek is:

Lev 23:34  "Tell the people of Isra'el, 'On the fifteenth day of this seventh month is the feast of Sukkot for seven days to Adonai.

Impious means Irreverent towards the Supreme Being; wanting in veneration for God and his authority; irreligious; profane. The scoffer at God and his authority is impious

Mat 25:7  The girls all woke up and prepared their lamps for lighting.

Mat 25:8  The foolish ones said to the sensible ones, 'Give us some of your oil, because our lamps are going out.'

Mat 25:9  'No,' they replied, 'there may not be enough for both you and us. Go to the oil dealers and buy some for yourselves.'

Mat 25:10  But as they were going off to buy, the bridegroom came. Those who were ready went with him to the wedding feast, and the door was shut.

Mat 25:11  Later, the other bridesmaids came. 'Sir! Sir!' they cried, 'Let us in!'

Mat 25:12  But he answered, 'Indeed! I tell you, I don't know you!'

This day was also known as "the day of the beating of the aravah." The Mishnah (Sukkah 4:2) records: How was the mitzvah of aravah fulfilled?

There was a place below Jerusalem called Motza. They would go down there and pick branches of willows and would then come and place them alongside the altar with the heads (of the willow branches) bent over the altar.

They then sounded the shofar: a tekiah, a teruah, and a tekiah.

Each day they would circle the altar once and say, "Ana Hashem Hoshiah Na (Please, G-d, bring us salvation), Ana Hashem Hatzlichah Na (Please, G-d, bring us success)"... On that day (i.e., Hoshana Rabbah) they circled the altar seven times.

Once the ground is wet then the soaking rain râbîyb can come…

 

The word râbîyb means to be fertile…
